Olympic Quality: Zeon Zoysia
Next generation fine-textured Zoysia
Drought resilient
Dense, plush growth
Slower growth = less mowing than Bermuda
Full sun or bright shade
Sun or Shade? Both. 🌤
Thriving in full sun, Zeon also has some shade tolerance
As a Zoysiagrass, Zeon naturally thrives in full-on, all-day long, baking hot sun. However, it offers some shade tolerance, as long as it gets at least 4 to 5 hours of full sun. We have articles to help you determine if your yard is too shady for grass and we offer tips on how to make it a little more sunny, if necessary.
Zeon Zoysia is a Warm-Season Lawn
The term "warm season" means it's green during the warm growing season; going dormant after frost. Even though it's dormant during winter, it can still be walked and played on.
Zeon's Olympic Quality Explained
The best performing fine-textured Zoysia
Zeon Zoysia sod is so adaptable that it thrives in the heat of the lower South and cold winters of the upper South. It boasts a higher shade tolerance and disease and insect resistance than other thin-bladed Zoysias. It's soft and plush, yet easier to mow than other fine-textured Zoysias because it doesn't require a reel mower. Plus, it was literally in the Olympics! It was chosen as the official golf course grass of the 2016 games in Rio, Brazil.
Love fine-textured Zoysiagrass, but hate the upkeep? Choose Zeon.
- Medium green color
- Thin leaf blade (fine textured)
- Likes an acidic pH (low pH) - depending on results of your soil test, there may be no need to raise the pH with lime
- Slowing growing - needs less mowing than Tall Fescue & Bermuda
- Mow with a reel, rotary, or robotic lawn mower
- Drought resistant; it goes dormant in extended drought, greening up again when rain returns
Where to Use Zeon, the Bare Foot Grass
Use anywhere that a dependable, luxurious lawn is desired. Thick and comfortable like all Zoysia lawns, as if there’s padding underneath, this fine-bladed Zoysia also feels soft to bare feet (other fine-bladed zoysia can feel slightly prickly to bare skin).
- Residential lawns & commercial landscapes
- Condos, resorts, and hotels
- Public & private parks
- Sports fields and golf courses on fairways, tees, and roughs
- It's tolerant of salt water spray so can be planted near the ocean
- Zones 5b to 11a on the 2012 USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map or Zones 1-4 on the Turfgrass Hardiness Map
Zeon's Other Assets
- Full sun; tolerant of partial shade or some bright filtered shade (pine shade or high shade)
- After Elite Tall Fescue, Zeon is our second most shade tolerant turfgrass
- Weed resistant due to Zeon's dense turf that crowds out weeds and other grasses
- Mow with a reel, rotary, or robotic lawn mower
- Requires less fertilization than other lawns, especially compared to Bermudagrasses
- Zeon stripes pretty well, as seen in pictures herein
